Governance
EACMSI is a non-profit educational corporation. Committed to providing students with Montessori teaching methods, materials and environments, EACMSI is a member of the American Montessori Society and the North American Montessori Teachers Association, and has permanent accreditation from New York State.
The school's operation and long-range planning are guided by an academic and business administration and a board of trustees. The operational tasks of administration, staffing and curriculum development and delivery are the responsibility of Principal and Founder Andrea Riddle and the Business Administrator, and finances and policies are overseen by the Board of Trustees. The Board consists of nine voting members, who are elected to two-year, renewable terms. The full board meets monthly with Business Administrator Lisa Smith and staff liaison Terry Cater-Cyker to contribute with recommendations on a wide variety of issues, to make financial and other decisions, and to develop activities and programs in support of the school's vitality. The Board accomplishes research, special projects and detailed discussion of proposals within its three committees - Finance and Facilities, Communications, and Development.
